El puerto de Marsella es quizás un destino turístico típico, pero merece ser visitado por el ferry que sale del Ayuntamiento y la antigua iglesia, que sustituyó a un edificio templario.

Plinio el Joven se refiere en sus escritos a Centocelle como sede de un consejo de paz celebrada por el emperador Trajano.
Centocelle toma su nombre del estilo de las casas de la aldea, que se parece a colmenas con células pequeñas, las pequeñas bahías de la costa que permitieron a los barcos ir y venir. Debido a su entorno protegido y con fácil acceso al mar, Trajano construyó su villa más extravagante en la vecindad, mencionada por Plinio. La primera estructura básica del puerto desarrollado por Trajano todavía permanece.
